Q. Hi Illidiance How is the recording of your new Album Damage Theory going?
Dmitry: Hi, thanks for your interest. Now we are recording the samples and intend to start the recording of Voice parts, at the moment we’ve done the recording session for guitar bass and drum parts.
Dmitry: Firstly I need to say – this album will consist of 11 tracks, it will include 4 songs from EP “Synthetic Breed” as well as new 7 songs in our cognate cyber-metal style. We entitled our work as Damage Theory coz we spent a long of time working on material to make it maximal catchy, so every track is cutting like razor. Our fans and new listeners will enjoy some international guest appearances on this album: there will be Tony JJ (ex-Mnemic / IconInMe) – he will sing in song CyberGore Generation , Guitar virtuoso from UK- Mick Priestley (The Green River Project) – who is playing solo in “I want To Believe” song, Polish maniac - Adam Adsinner (HATE) – recording his powerful vocals for Mind Hunters song , and one of world's leading Cyber-Punks Kendji Sirotori (Japan) is preparing the narration for New Millenium Crusherz song, it will be done in english and on Japanese is well for japan release. Soon our studio diaries will be available at our myspace page so our listeners will be able to check it out, there is a lot of funny acts.
Q. What motivates or inspires Illidiance to write lyrical themes based on cyber issues, implants, infected DNA, extra-terrestrials, anthropogenic disasters, cloning, love of a new world and other aspects of an human step further?
Dmitry: I really love sci-fi films, ideas of future, books on such themes, so high-tech world and relative things are inspiring me to perform lyrics.
Q. Does the band write songs on issues of religion or politics and relationships?
Dmitry: No, we are musicians, not politics or religion leaders. We are working on themes which firstly are interesting for us. We as musicians are trying to live as people of the world, to be international and free of prejudice of political demands and rules.
Q. Can you tell us about your current lineup such as do all the members contribute their ideas to the lyrical content, and song writing or laying the song tracks down while recording?
Dmitry: Me, my brother Tommy, Mike and Serge are working collaborative on themes for album, me and my brother are preparing the riffs, Mike and Serge are checking them, giving us their ideas, that’s the way we transfer our collaborative image of song we performing to a new canvas.
Q. How did the band land the chance to work with producer A. Karelin for this Album and will she be helping out with the mixing and mastering of this Album?
Dmitry: Alexander Karelin is a very good sound producer, well experienced with star bands of CIS countries, so I guess our collaborative work will result as powerfull sound and production of album. We know each other for some months, we engaged him to work on Damage Theory some weeks ago and he accepted)))
Q. Will Illidiance be producing any videos of live recording sessions for this Album or producing any music videos from this Album?
Dmitry: As I said soon our listeners will be able to enjoy our videos from recording process, + some footage and our jackass jokes))) As well for this album we’ll perform some music videos, we intend to produce one videoclip and one concert live clip.
Q. Any ideas for the cover art of this Album, also curious who is the incredible Artist that designs the bands MySpace page and the Cover Art for Illidiances previous CD’s?
Dmitry: We have some ideas for cover artwork for album, it will be symbolic, in case of technogenic, steampunk style. Our myspace was designed by our friends Mayhem Projects studio under direction of my brother Tommy. Cover artworks for our last releases were designed by our buddy hes name is Vladimir “Grafus” Gulevsky, he’s a professional artist and designer, and he’s our art director.
Q. I really dig how the music really fits the bands image how many fans say that Illidiance is the wave of the future for Metal music?
Dmitry: We are working a lot on our image and concert shows, we guess that image and artwork as well as show is a really serious factors which chained together with catchy material will result as good promotion and boost the status of the act. In case of your another question – we do not propose ourselves as New messiah in metal music, we play our cognate style of music, we transfer our own images and ideas to our stuff, and working to achieve our place at musical Olympus so if our fans stated that we are the future wave – that’s great, if you want to know how many fans told so – I dunno, coz we are not able to count these things.
Q. One of Illidiances videos I been spamming on Face book one of my favorites is Breaking The Limit, does the band often perform live with fire pots curious because we never see this cool stuff at concerts anymore?
Dmitry: We are working with some pyrotechnical stuff, btw transportation of fire pots and stuff like this as well as fees of accredited fireworks-specialists that is an expensive thing, so for now we cant afford to use it at all gigs, we use it from time to time, not at all, But we intend to work with such things more and more in future.
Q. Can you tell us about your song track "Razor To The Skin" appearing on a compilation FEAR CANDY 72 of TERRORIZER MAGAZINE?
Dmitry: This track is from our EP “Synthetic Breed” , this song is about some kind of suicide virus, the code which provided by networks as virus program, this code infects human minds. The moment when someone witnesses suicide of another man he becomes affected too. We were so positive about our song taken to Terrorizer compilation which performs a well promotion for us.
Q. Out of all your Albums Withering Razors (2005), Insane Mytheries To Demise (2006), Nexaeon (2008), Synthetic Breed (2009), and your new one Damage Theory which one is the bands favorite or the one they are most proud of to date?
Dmitry: Our first works as 2 LP “Insane..” and “Nexaeon” were the starting point where we played modern black metal, unfortunately these albums were produced not up to be strong as hell, with EP “Synthetic Breed” we moved to our actual style and we guess it’s the thing we really are. Our mix of industrial and modern metal is a thing we intended to perform for a long time, and now we are doing what we need. So wait for our album Damage Theory, we will highly appreciate if you’ll do the review and airplay some track from it in future))) hehe
Q. Does Illidiance plan to come out with a DVD in the future covering the bands history, any unreleased songs, and live videos from previous concerts, interviews or behind the scenes footage of the band?
Dmitry: Yep we keep this idea alive, btw actually we are young and not so wide known band, and we need to work and collect more stuff to come out with official DVD. So it will be done, but I can’t portend the exact date of such DVD will come out.
Can fans worldwide purchase previous Illiance Albums?
Dmitry: It’s maybe difficult, coz they’re released by a indie labels and all cd-s was sold out, on other hand we have all rights for these albums and soon all tracks will be available at itunes, napster, amazon. Maybe we will take it as back catalogue to a next deal.
Q. Which Album helped Illidiance place No. 2 in a contest held by Metal Radio in January of 2009 and is the band still receiving airplay on radio?
Dmitry: Our song Cybernesis helped us and put the final point))) This song has been recorded in autumn 2009 as our first step in role of cyber-metal act. We included this song into Synthetic Breed EP as bonus track. For now we are still have airplays on this radio but we will boost the number of rotations at all stations with Damage Theory, if now we are airplayed by more than 50 stations, then we plan to be played by more than 150-200 of stations worldwide with our coming album.
Q. For an unsigned band Illidiance is conquering the world playing with bigger acts like Rotting Christ, Grave Digger. Behemoth and many more which concert stands out as being one of the bands favorite and did these venues help build the bands fan base?
Dmitry: We’ve been really satisfied with gigs in support of Behemoth, Deathstars, to be precise we’ve been satisfied with all gigs and tours in support of bigger acts, for us these gigs were like a competition – here you must play as a real opponent of a band you support, like a concurrent))) These gigs made us thought and work harder, coz there you might compare your power with power of a starlike band you support. As well these gigs brought us new fans, our fanbase becomes wider day by day.
Q. If the band had the chance to perform anywhere live in the world which country would they like to tour?
Dmitry: Firstly We would like to visit USA, Canada, Mexico and other latin America’s countries, Japan, China and other asian countries, hell yeah – we would like to play everywhere))))
Q. Is the band seeking a record label at the moment to help with both distribution and tour support?
Dmitry: Yep, for now we are looking for a label to release our coming album and make promotion, help with tours as well.
Q. Does the band have any tours planned for 2010 once they unleash Damage Theory?
Dmitry: Our management now is working to book us to some festivals in 2010 as well we have some offers of European tours for spring 2010, but I sincerely apologyse – I can’t reveal it now, coz I’ll know the exact dates in January, so let’s keep in touch and you’ll be the first who I’ll contact with these news as well as album and tour announce)))
Q. Before we wrap up our interview does Illidiance have anything to say to fans and friends?
Dmitry: Firstly I want to thank you and all HMCTV Canada crew for this interview! For our fans and your listeners I wish a really successful new year, I wish you a lot of luck, love, money and all your dreams to become real! Thanks once again, you really do the best!
