I had the fantastic opportunity to interview the band One Tune in and Listen!
After having spent a good part of the last 2 years on the road touring behind Never Say Never, the band got back to work on songs for a new album.
“We had already written and tested some new stuff last tour and knew what was working for us and what wasn’t, which made it a little easier to see what direction we were heading .” says singer Danny Rossi.
Feeling the need to do something a little different the band hired the services of Slaves on Dope guitarist Kevin Jardine to produce the record. “We needed a different vision than what we are used to with regards to putting finishing touches on the songs.
He has accomplished enough for us to have confidence in him, and listen to what he brought to the table. He took the process as serious as we did, and it was easy to work and get creative under those kinds of conditions. He was just what we were looking for.” says guitarist Chris Staniforth
The New album “DIRTY VALENTINE” has echoes of the bands travels, hardships, and the challenges of an industry that just doesn’t have an easy road.
“This band has always done things the hard way, it teaches us the lessons we need to learn to survive in this business. It can either bring you closer together or tear you apart; it has brought us closer together.” Says, bassist Ben Cousineau. From false promises to a band member change, ONE experienced a few bumps on the road. DIRTY VALENTINE is a story of survival, challenges and determination. This album makes it quite clear that ONE is here to stay.
“Dirty Valentine turned out way better than I expected; we just got in a room and started writing, and it was obvious that there was chemistry from the very beginning.” Says Rudy Occhionero, drummer who joined the band in March 2008. “The interesting mix of influences has spawned some really good songs, Adds Occhionero.
Deeper lyrics, solid riffs and a solid rhythm section makes DIRTY VALENTINE an album to be reckon with. From the opening rocking riff of the title track Dirty Valentine to the closing acoustic ballad I Know; the album has something for everyone.
ONE is a band that strives to give more to their fans. In a recent interview, their band manager Michael Sucar from PhoenixOne Entertainment said: “ONE knows that it’s all about relationships and people and they enjoy every second of it.
They literally LOVE their fans!” “Without fans enjoying what we put out there, we don’t really serve a purpose. It is all about the relationship we have with our fans and friends. There is nothing more gratifying than playing for new fans and making that “first time” connection. They become our champions, and it all starts there,” Says Rossi.
When manager Michael Sucar was asked if it can get any better than the first album, he replied: “If you think the first album kicked a**, stay tuned because you ain’t seen or heard nothing yet. They got their feet wet with Never Say Never, and now it is all about breaking down the doors with DIRTY VALENTINE!”
